Cultural Intelligence & Global Competence
- Building cultural intelligence
- Assessing and developing international talent
- Creating global mindsets
The importance of globally competent staff with an international mindset is often over-looked and under-valued by global businesses. It is generally assumed that staff competent at home will operate just as effectively in a global environment. The evidence contradicts this.
Global competence is not only about knowledge of different legal and regulatory frameworks. More importantly, it involves understanding and leveraging culturally diverse beliefs and values, assumptions and behaviours when working with people from different national and cultural backgrounds. Staff with global responsibilities may be expatriated, work on short-term international commuter assignments or remain resident in their home country, but the skills they need to operate effectively are more complex than those required in a purely domestic operation.
We have developed a research-based global competence framework that defines the additional abilities required of staff to operate effectively in the global environment. These competencies provide the basis for our range of international assessment and development tools that help organisations identify global potential and performance, pinpoint risk and define development needs. We help with recruitment for specific posts, identify staff for talent pools and work with individuals and groups to develop the cultural intelligence and global competence to be successful.
